Last week I had the opportunity to go to Red Bull Soap Box. This event is where people built soap box cars and raced them down a steep hill. This was held at Red Rocks in Colorado. I got out there a few days early to help out with the Wiiing Team Invasion, just like I did with X Fighters, but this event didn't have as many Wiiing Team Members to keep track of. It was still late nights but they were spent on the scenic cruiser, otherwise known as the party bus.
The first night we were there they had a kick-off party at the Burton Show room that was a lot of fun and for the first time some of the girls got to try the new Cola from Red Bull. There was of course dancing, food, and a good time.
The rest of the time was spent working and having fun. We went to Ft. Collins to CSU and sampled on campus to get people excited about the event, then at nights we had a few girls on the scenic cruiser dancing and passing out Red Bull to those that came on the bus to hangout.
The day of the event I was in charge of the Wreckage Alley. That meant that I had to keep a clear path from where the soap box race finished to where the cars were then carried to a pit area, otherwise known as the "Wreckage Alley." This wasn't a bad job. I got to see the race and kept people entertained by yelling at other people who wouldn't move out of the way.
This is one of the soap boxes that participated
As you can see I found time to take my picture in this "Red Bull" soap box.
The winner of the race was the team called "Save Ferris." The soap box car took after the red sports car in Ferris Bueller's Day off. People do a small skit at the top of the ramp and they were all dressed up as the characters on the movie and then they kicked the car down the ramp. The funny thing is they kicked it so it went backwards and they made it look like no one was in the car. When it got so the bottom it came to a perfect stop and out of almost no where a guy gets out of it dressed as the mechanic.
However, the most exciting part was a fight that broke out between a girl and guy where the girl threw her beer on the guy, the guy punched the girl. This girl was ready to kill this guy. The guy took off and the cops calmed the girl down. I tell ya, never a dull moment at a Red Bull event.
Again, just like X Fighters, I had 4 of my own WTMs there. They worked so hard, drove 10 hours in the Red Bull MINIs, and from what I heard everyone LOVED the Utah girls. They also made sure that I let lose every once in a while as well...thanks girls!
I have to say that this event was probably the best I have been to so far. Everyday was a new adventure and the laughter hardly ever stopped.
Ok, so just a little thing on us. Kade and I have been married for 4 1/2 years. We have a beautiful 2 1/2 year old little girl, Kimber, who keeps us both very busy and on February 4th we had number 2, a baby boy named Kolton. Kade is a Project Manager for S3 Entertainment who specialize in home theaters and I am still working for Red Bull running the Wiiings Team all over Utah and I am now over the colleges as well. Life keeps us pretty busy but we have a lot of fun at the same time.
